How to send money online with a credit card: PayPal, Square and Amazon Payments

We come to one of the most interesting parts of this article: how to send money online with a credit card. These options are available via mobile, tablet or laptop; you will not have to leave home and it could be said that the associated rates are quite low, at least if you compare them with others in the sector.

According to our research, there are three methods that are foolproof to send cash using the plastic you have in your pocket:

PayPal

A company that shouldn’t need an introduction. PayPal is a leading money transfer company and online payment transactions. In fact, it is one of the first to implement it.

Of course: in order to use this service, both parties need to have an open PayPal account.

At the time of making the transaction, you must have the email address that the recipient has registered on the platform and confirm that there are no errors. Log in to PayPal with your email and password, and select the “Send Money” option.

Next, you will see a window in which PayPal will ask you if you are paying for goods and services or, on the contrary, if you want to send money to friends and family. Select the most appropriate option and enter the recipient’s email address in the corresponding box, along with the amount you want to send.

To make sure you’re using the correct payment option, click ‘Change payment method’. If the credit card you want to use is not listed, add it before completing the operation.

Confirm all details of the transaction and click on “send money”. Your PayPal account will automatically send you a confirmation email.

Note: With PayPal, the recipient will receive the money in seconds and automatically. And do not worry! If you usually use another currency, like euros, for example; PayPal will allow you to make the change without having to leave the platform.

Tip: If the recipient is a trusted person, you may want to select the “send money to friends and family” option. Why? Because PayPal will waive in this case the commissions and fees associated with the service.

How much does PayPal charge in fees?

Payments to providers have a charge of 2.9% on the amount of the transfer, plus a fee of $0.30 dollars per transaction. This means that for a payment of $1,000, PayPal will charge $29.30. Here you have two options: choose to pay the commission out of pocket or let the recipient pay it. In the latter case, you will receive the amount you have sent less the costs of the operation.

Remember: Although the option to send money to friends and family is very useful, use it only if you are, in fact, transferring funds to a trusted person. Although transactions for friends and family do not have any surcharge, they are not subject to any type of guarantee, that is, you will not be able to request the return of the funds.

Amazon Payments

Amazon Payments has a similar program to PayPal. You can link your Amazon Payments account to your bank accounts or to any credit or debit cards you have or want to use. As with all online cash payment systems, when registering the account you will have to confirm it by clicking on the link in the automatic email that the platform will send you.

Note: Ask the recipient for their “registered name” on Amazon and enter it in the box without errors.

Please confirm that the name of the recipient corresponds to the correct person before sending the money. Even though you’re doing some sort of cash transfer, do not select “cash advance”. Instead, choose the “goods and services” option. Otherwise, your credit card company will charge you a surcharge, just as it would for cash advances you request at an ATM.

What is Amazon’s fee?

Amazon provides free transactions for payments up to $1,000 per month, not bad when compared to PayPal. This means you can send one $1,000 payment – or four $250 payments – without paying a dime in fees. However, if you exceed this amount, the transaction will be subject to the same PayPal fees: 2.9% of the transaction amount plus an additional $0.30.

SquareCash

Square started as a platform for online commerce, but has evolved into a service that allows consumers to transfer money online, including using their credit card. The application is available for mobile phones with iOS and Android operating systems.

After downloading the app, link your credit card to the application account. With the recipient’s phone number, you can make a payment just by tapping the “pay” button. Enter an amount greater than $1 and click “send”. Square Cash charges a 3% fee for using a credit card at checkout.
